For while two Premiership football clubs are seriously interested in using the tests but waiting for someone else to throw a six to start, Plymouth Argyle has been evaluating the test for 10 weeks and working hand-in-glove with us at Knight Scientific to benefit from the results.
PAFC owner James Brent and team Performance Manager John Harbin both put their faith in the ABEL-Sport test and have seen it rewarded with results that gave an extra insight into the physical condition of the players.
John Harbin, widely respected in both the worlds of football and rugby, describes our test as "a Godsend" and "the vital link" because it helps him decide whether a player needs more recovery time in training or can be pushed harder.
Having the extra insight is one thing, but acting on it is another.
Mr Harbin, a Yorkshireman-turned-Australian who tends to call a spade a spade, made it his business to come to our laboratory and find out about the science behind the tests - and when we were ready to provide the results of the first batch of tests, he kept his cards close to his chest.
We didn't know the identities of the player's we'd tested, so there was much breath-holding on our side when our Founder, Dr Jan Knight, told Mr Harbin that the results showed that six players needed closer monitoring.
The six players turned out to be precisely the same six that Mr Harbin had been privately concerned about. And so it has been ever since, with the tests revealing information about the condition of players that they often didn't know themselves.
We're confident that the ABEL-Sport test will become the gold standard for overtraining prediction and infection detection in elite athletes and sports people because it's accurate, easy to use, and gives results in minutes.
We're happy for people to send us the finger-prick blood samples for testing in our own lab, but we suspect most clients will buy an ABEL Meter portable luminometer so they can do their own testing at the pitchside, poolside or trackside (or anywhere else that suits them).
